The Route
If you're looking for variety, breathtaking views, and just the right amount of challenge, the 2 Valleys is the perfect introduction to trail running. At 21km, it may be our shortest route, but it certainly shouldn't be underestimated.
Starting in the popular mountain town of Keswick, the circular route follows the old railway line before climbing from Threlkeld on quiet roads and well-made trails. After refuelling at the well-stocked feed station, you'll venture into the spectacular Glenderaterra Valley, where secluded trails and sweeping mountain views create one of the highlights of the course.
A short, more technical section across the Lonscale Slabs is rewarded with a fast descent around Latrigg and an exciting finish back in the centre of Keswick. Whether you're tackling your first trail race, taking on a challenge walk, or simply exploring one of the Lake District's finest routes, the 2 Valleys is an unforgettable adventure.

What is the minimum age for participants?
To enter 2 Valleys you must be aged 17 or over.
Will there be additional cut off points?
There will be additional cut off points along the route to give participants the best chance of completing the event inside the overall time.
Will the route be waymarked?
Yes, the route will be fully waymarked, with pink waymarkers. Downloadable route files are also available to aid navigation using both phones and watches.
Is there a minimum qualification standard?
No, the 2 Valleys is open to all runners and walkers alike.

Does the event have cut off times?
Yes the event has a generous cut off time of 8 hours.
What is included in the entry fee?

Will there be a minimum kit list?
Yes. The minimum kit list can be found on the event information page here. You will need to have this kit with you at registration. The kit list will vary depending on the distance you have entered and includes both minimum and recommended kit. There will be variations on this list depending on the weather forecast.
Will there be a kit check?
Kit checks are not mandatory for the 2 Valleys distance. However, all participants are required to carry the items listed in our minimum kit list. We may carry out spot kit checks before or during the event, and participants who are not carrying the required kit will be disqualified.
Can I store my bag at the start/finish?
There will be a secured baggage compound in the Event Village in Keswick. Please note that the compound is open to the elements, so please waterproof your bag just in case.
