Fix The Fells

We are proud to be partnered with the Lake District National Park on this event. 5% of each entry fee will go to the Lake District Foundation to support Fix the Fells, an organisation that protects the Lakeland fells from erosion by repairing and maintaining the upland paths.

Sarah Swindley, Chief Executive Lake District Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be charity partner with The Great Run Company on this exciting new sustainable event. The 13 Valleys Ultra takes in some of the most stunning spots of the Lake District. What’s also fantastic is that part of the entry fee from each competitor will go towards protecting this special landscape.”

The Lake District Foundation inspires people to donate to projects that care for the spectacular wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage of the Lake District and Cumbria.

The LDF looks to raise funds for a number of key projects including Fix the Fells – a programme which looks after and repairs upland paths to help protect landscape and wildlife.

The charity supports community schemes such as the planting of new hedges and trees, to funding butterfly and bee gardens and new wildflower meadows.

A major project in recent years is the Low Carbon Lake District Fund – which has seen 60% funding for projects that reduce the carbon footprint of businesses and community groups in the Lake District and Cumbria. More than £600k has been given to projects ranging from solar panels, electric car charging points, air source heat pumps, to low energy lighting at a factory.
