Future Valleys
A trail event for the next generation
Future Valleys is a new addition to the Altra 13 Valleys Ultra event weekend, created to give children and young people the opportunity to enjoy their own trail challenge in the heart of Keswick.
Taking place on Saturday 26 September 2026, the event will feature age-appropriate routes around Theatre by the Lake, designed for children aged 3–16. Future Valleys is about encouraging young people to get outdoors, build confidence and experience the atmosphere of an iconic trail running weekend in a format designed especially for them.

The route takes place on trails around Theatre by the Lake, with clear waymarking and support on course. Participants will start in waves throughout the morning, creating a relaxed and supportive environment for young runners. *Route is subject to change
Future Valleys is designed to be inclusive and accessible, with the emphasis on participation, enjoyment and spending time outdoors. Each participant will receive:
- a wooden finisher medal
- a finish-line Freddo
- a limited edition decal

FAQ
Do I have to run with my child?
Participants in the 2km event (ages 3–10) must be accompanied by an adult. All 2km entrants will receive an Adult bib in their race pack for the accompanying adult to wear on the day.
Participants in the 5km event (ages 11–16) run independently and are not accompanied by an adult as standard. If you would like an adult to run with a participant, please get in touch with us in advance. An additional entry and bib will be required.
Do I need to register and pay for myself as well as my child for the 2km?
No, you only need to register and pay for your child.
Can more than one parent run with their child?
Yes, more than one adult is welcome to accompany a child in the 2km event.
Are both the 2km and 5km chip timed?
Yes, all participants in both distances will receive a timing chip as part of their race number.
Where do the races start and finish?
Both the 2km and 5km events start and finish at: Theatre by the Lake, Keswick (Lake Rd, Keswick CA12 5DJ)
When will I get my run number?
Run numbers must be collected on the day from Registration at Theatre by the Lake. Simply attach the number to your child's running top using safety pins. Each bib includes a timing chip, so once collected, you're ready to go.
Will there be toilets or baby-changing facilities?
Yes. Toilets are available in:
Lakeside Car Park
Theatre by the Lake (including baby-changing facilities)
Will there be somewhere to leave bags or get changed?
There will be a bag drop available. There are no dedicated changing facilities, but toilets are available at Theatre by the Lake. We recommend arriving in running kit where possible.
