Why take part in 13 Valleys Ultra?

The 13 Valleys Ultra is an an epic off road event taking place in the stunning Lake District National Park, from Friday 27 September to Sunday 19 September 2024.

This event, in partnership with the Lake District National Park, links all thirteen valleys of the LDNP, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This trail is accessible all year-round for walkers and runners alike, with the 13 Valleys Ultra event celebrating it once a year.

5% of each entry fee is donated to the Lake District Foundation, so they can maintain and repair paths on this trail.

There are four distances to choose from : 22km, 55km, 110km and 180km – each promising spectacular trail running over the fells, round the magnificent lakes, and through the unique valleys of the Lake District.

The 13 Valleys distance (180km) is the pinnacle and will rank alongside some of the toughest tests of ultra running in the world. It represents an exceptional physical and mental challenge and is open to experienced ultra runners on a self qualification basis only.

Starting and finishing in Keswick, the 180km loop includes 17 checkpoints, more than 7,000m elevation, and passes through all 13 valleys.

The 5 Valleys (55km) and 7 Valleys (110km) offer an exciting ultra marathon challenge and a taste of the big one.

The 2 Valleys Trail (22km) provides a stepping stone to the longer challenges and is open to walkers and runners alike, with a generous cut off time of 8 hours.

With full gps tracking, way marking (2 and 5 Valley routes), recce days, training programmes, numerous feed stations, generous cut off times and a FB community group, everything is in place to support runners to achieve their goals

The journey to the start line begins at the point you sign up, with participants supported with training plans, equipment guides, partner offers and the opportunity to take part in skills sessions and training weekends.
